Well, another week. I’ve made progress on my iPhone/iPad apps. I’ve gotten two submitted (SCUBA and Photo Shooter). I’m still waiting for artwork on Weather Watcher and Race For Space. The preliminary stuff I’ve gotten for them so far look amazing. I’m very excited to get them done and able to be shown.
I’m writing this up on my new iPad. I love it. This site is actually even more fun and easier to work on from the iPad than a desktop or iPhone.
I got a bunch of birthdays updated on the family calendar. If you still don’t see yours or someone you think should be on there, email it to me. I need name, date and month. Year is optional, but nice for records.

Sorry for the lack of updates. It has been very busy. I’m doing full time work and full time school. Then we’ve also been working on finishing the downstairs.
I’ve started taking advantage of MobileMe for posting photos. They can be found here. I’ve uploaded the last couple months of photos. MobileMe makes a pretty way to browse the photos and makes it easy to download all the photos in an album or each photo separately. For those with an iPhone or iPod Touch, you can easily browse these photos by using Apple’s MobileMe Gallery app.
I’ve also been posting the photos on Facebook here.
I still have a few events to post here on the family site. I have it on my todo list and need to get to it. Sorry for the delay.
I hope these new ways to browse make it easier.

I finally got the Shakespeare night photos posted.
My OS Admin class is going pretty well. I should be ready to take my final the week of the 13th. Then I should have time to squeeze in an extra class for the semester!
The mobile version of the site has been updated. It should work better on iPhones and iPod Touches and now there’s an Android and a Palm Pre version as well.

I added a Videos page to link to family videos. I also added an old 1998 episode of Star Trek filmed at Universal Studios that some of the Russells were in.

The upcoming events are now fixed on the right side of the page. Thanks Anmari! I’ve also made it so if you click the name of the calendar or the calendar icon on the Calendar page, it’ll ask you if you want to subscribe to the calendar (if you have iCal, Outlook, etc). Even works on the iPhone OS 3.0 so you can take the calendar with you anywhere! Or if you prefer Google Calendar, click the +g icon at the top to subscribe to the calendar or any +g next to any event to add just that event to your Google Calendar.

I’ve integrated Twitter into this site. Now when a post is done on this site, it’ll post to my twitter account me on twitter to see the updates. This is a generic all posts on this site go to my twitter account. If you prefer, I can make a family site twitter account that gets posted to instead. Let me know what you think in the comments.
Don’t forget, auto post to Facebook still works as well and that works on an individual account basis. So any posts from your account here would go to your own facebook account. Just set that up in this site’s Site Admin settings. Super easy with just a couple clicks. Enjoy!

I have removed the tree view list of folders from the Pictures page. This makes it so the page loads TONS faster. I mainly took it off because when it expanded, it pushed the pictures off the page so you couldn’t see the pictures and I figured the pictures are more important than the tree view.
I’ve also added a Tags cloud to the side bar on the right side that lets you see (by relative size) how many posts reference which tag and if you click the tag, you can see all the posts.
I added a recent comments section to the sidebar as well. It shows the last 5 comments on the family site. Click the post name to see the comment.

Please provide me with any birthdays and anniversaries you’re aware of in the family that aren’t already on the Calendar page. Except Shelley. She’ll show up in a couple hours or so when the calendar page refreshes. Use the Contact page to email me. I need first and last name for birthdays and the first and last name of both people for an anniversary. Year is optional if you don’t know it, but I’d really like to record it if you do. Thanks a lot!

For those with Facebook accounts, thought you might be interested to know the family site can automatically post anything you post here to your Facebook account. One time setup and then it just automatically happens. When you login here and then go to the site admin section, you’ll see an option under settings called Wordbook. Set up your account in there. Then whenever you post, it’ll push it to Facebook. It works like any other Facebook app, so I won’t know your password or anything like that.
