We just got back from a four hour zodiac (tiny inflatable raft with two huge motors) tour with Captain Zodiac. It was AMAZING. We did a 30 minute ride over to the bay we were at the other day kayaking, though this time we had snorkel gear. We saw a few dolphins along the way. When we got there, we dove in and saw tons of fish and coral. It was all really beautiful. It’s surprising how deep you can get very fast with fins. I’d look up and it’d seem like there’s no way I’d make it back up before needing air. Since I’m writing this, you can probably guess that I didn’t drown. After about an hour of snorkeling, we got back in the zodiac. Darren was our tour guide and he had lots of great history stories to tell us as we traveled around the coast of Kona for another hour or so. Tons of beautiful coast and history. This was way better than the helicopter tour. On the way back to the marina, we were surrounded by tons of pilot dolphins. A few did some half hearted spins in the air. We caught them while they’re sleeping, so they weren’t very active. I got some under water photos of the snorkeling and some shots of the dolphins. All with a film camera (that I hope turns out) that we’ll develop later and post.
